Auroras, Startrails, Rivers, Oh My!
by Yuichi Takasaka
A sequence of photos from Cameron River, near Yellowknife in northern Canada, resulted in this surreal image of the trailing stars and dancing aurora. The light of the Full Moon near the horizon is scattered through the clouds and in the sky.

This is a set of scans of some fruits and vegetables in a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).

  1. Cucumber.
  2. Pomegranate.
  3. Onion.
  4. Tangerine.
  5. Starfruit or Carambola.
  6. Kiwi (axial slice).
  7. Kiwi (sagital slice).
  8. Tomato (axial slice).
  9. Tomato (sagital slice).

Magnetic Resonance Imaging is a medical imaging technique to acquire images from the human body —vegetables and fruits also =) —, and it is completely harmless (no radiation). If well applied, you can virtually scan any part of the human body.

Those scans were made, when I was in college, being able to play around with an MRI. Yeah MRIs are fun =)

Tomorrow’s his 70th birthday, and it’s a legitimate question. His particular form of the disease is unique, and he’s outlived anyone else on record with ALS. An interesting little Reddit thread to celebrate his survival.

Another treat to celebrate his b-day coming tomorrow! Or if you have access to a wormhole or space-time disruption you can go forward to tomorrow and look at it right now.
